Taste: Elegant sweetness
Umami: Rich
Astringency: Smooth bitterness
Scent: Mellow and fragrant
Recommendation: Tea ceremony, the highest variety of Kyoto matcha
Asahi matcha is a deep jade-green color, offering an elegant and refined flavor. Naturally sweet, it has a smooth bitterness and a rich, fragrant aroma. The taste is full-bodied, creamy, and sweet, with a silky texture. Its flavor profile is well-balanced, featuring fresh green notes, a hint of chocolate, and a mellow egg custard undertone. The umami is distinct, and the smooth, layered flavors unfold with each sip.
**Recommended Uses**: Tea Ceremony, koicha (thick tea), or in lattes and other drinks.
This tea variety is among the most expensive of the milled teas and is frequently showcased at top product exhibitions. It was carefully selected by Mr. Hirano from Uji Village in Uji County. Due to its early harvesting and short growing period, expanding its cultivation is challenging.
