The name “Shikibu no Mukashi” (式部の昔) refers to “Shikibu,” which was the title for the ministry of ceremonies responsible for personnel and ceremonial matters. It was also used as a designation for ladies-in-waiting, such as Murasaki Shikibu and Izumi Shikibu from the Heian period.
