Discover the Perfect Blend of Rich Uji Matcha and Creamy Hokkaido Milk
Introduced on March 10th, 2021, our Uji Matcha Milk Jam combines Hokkaido milk, cream, and sugar with flavorful Uji matcha. The milk jam is carefully simmered for two hours to achieve a rich, creamy texture and deep matcha flavor.
Uji matcha is a premium Japanese tea made from tencha leaves that are shaded from sunlight, steamed, and dried without kneading. The leaves are then ground with a stone mill, resulting in a fine powder celebrated for its smooth, mellow taste. This labor-intensive grinding process can take up to an hour to produce just 40g of matcha.

ABOUT CHIKIRIYA:
The name Chikiriya dates back to the 16th century with the establishment of the Chikiriya Kichiemon merchant family and their clothing shop, “Chikichi,” in Kyoto. The Chikiriya tea house was founded in the 19th century by Kakubei Akiyama the 5th, who began selling Uji Sencha alongside kimonos. By the late 1800s, it became a significant player in Kyoto’s tea community. In 1910, Chikiriya acquired a tea plantation in Uji, producing Gyokuro and Matcha, making it one of only three tea houses with its own plantation until World War II, after which land reforms led to the loss of ownership. Today, Chikiriya remains dedicated to preserving and sharing the cultural heritage of Kyoto through its premium Japanese tea.
